K-Solar Teacher Training

K-Solar Professional Development Teacher Training

The New York Power Authority is pleased to offer teacher workshops under the educational aspect of the K-Solar Program. We hope your teachers will join us for the K-Solar Professional Development (PD) workshop. This workshop will be at no cost for your teachers and will help bring clean energy and solar education into their classrooms.

A key component of K-Solar is to connect the high growth field of solar energy to curriculum, allowing teachers to use solar as a tool for students to learn about renewable energy and sustainability, and as a catalyst for STEM learning. NYPA, in partnership with Solar One, a non-profit Green Energy Education organization, will be providing professional development workshops for NYS teachers covering clean energy and solar lessons and activities.

Solar One’s Green Design Lab (GDL) is a STEM-focused, interdisciplinary sustainability program that provides students with hands-on experiential learning. At the professional development workshops, teachers will be provided with the training and curricular instructional guides to integrate solar content and activities into their coursework. Training is available to all New York State K-12 teachers for both public and non-public schools.
